The National Conference on Physics of Materials & Materials Based Device Fabrication 2023 (NCPM-MDF-2023) marked a significant milestone at the Department of Physics at Shivaji University Kolhapur on November 25-26, 2023.

The resounding success of NCPM-MDF-2023 is a source of immense joy and contentment, as the overwhelming response demonstrated the keen interest and active participation of the scientific community. A total of 138 abstracts were submitted for consideration, reflecting the enthusiasm and engagement of researchers. The Souvenir (abstract book) is distributed to all the participants. Furthermore, the conference witnessed the registration of 255 delegates (UG/PG:65, Research Scholars: 152, Faculty: 38), underscoring the widespread interest and importance of the topics discussed.

In the landscape of scientific advancements, Nanotechnology, particularly centered around advanced materials, has garnered substantial attention in recent years. A quick search engine query yields approximately 2 million hits, showcasing the breadth and depth of discussions surrounding this field. Nanotechnology is poised to ascend to the status of the FIRST trillion-dollar market, significantly impacting diverse realms of everyday life, ranging from security to medicine. The unique properties that emerge at the nanometer scale open doors to novel applications, albeit not without presenting new challenges due to the diminishing dimensions of advanced materials.

NCPM-MDF-2023, themed "Physics of Materials and Materials based Device Fabrication 2023," endeavors to serve as a platform that unites scientists, technologists, researchers, and industrialists from across the nation. The primary goal is to foster an exchange of views and ideas, paving the way for fruitful scientific collaborations in the multifaceted field of Materials Science. This specialized theme delves into the applications of various tools and techniques, covering both experimental and theoretical aspects of the subject matter.

The inaugural function, a momentous occasion held on November 25^th, 2023, at 10:30 a.m., set the tone for the conference. Prof. (Dr.) D. P. Amalnerkar, Emeritus Professor at SPPU, Pune, and Ex. Director at CMET, Pune, graced the event as the Chief Guest. Prof. (Dr.) K. Y. Rajpure, Head of the Department of Physics, who presided over the function, adding a touch of eminence to the inaugural session. This gathering marked the commencement of what promises to be an intellectually enriching and collaborative forum.

In the oral presentation session, the NCPM-MDF-2023, held during 04.00 pm to 06.30 pm on 25 November 2023, in all 43 oral presentations were conducted. The best three oral presentation were judged for the cash prizes by the Expert Committee comprising of Dr. K. V. Gurav, Dr. P. P. Chikode, Dr. N. S. Harale, Dr. R. D. Mane, Dr. V. P. Kothavale and Dr. R. A. Ghorpade.

The special session is organized in the NCPM-MDF-2023 on Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Startup Ecosystem in association with SUK Research & Development Foundation (Section 8 Company of Shivaji University, Kolhapur) held during 09.30 am to 10.30 am on 26 November 2023.

In the poster session, the NCPM-MDF-2023, held during 02.30 pm to 03.30 pm on 26 November 2023, in all 66 posters were displayed. Poster session was inaugurated at the hands of Prof. (Dr.) V. J. Fulari. The best three posters were judged for the cash prizes by the Expert Committee comprising of Prof. (Dr.) J. B. Thorat, Dr. V. V. Ganbavle, Dr. V. M. Khot, Dr. H. P. Uskaikar, Dr. V. S. Kumbhar and Dr. S. A. Mahadik.
