Dr. J. L. Gunjkar, a Ramanujan Researcher at the Interdisciplinary Research Center of d. Y. Patil University, Kolhapur, emphasized during his speech on National Science Day the paramount importance of determination and perseverance in conducting impactful research. His insights were shared during an event organized by the Department of Physics at Shivaji University, themed "Indigenous Technology for Developed India."
The event commenced with an introduction by Dr. M. V. Takle, shedding light on the significance of National Science Day and its historical context. Following this, Dr. Gunjkar was introduced by N. L. Tarwal, and his notable contributions were acknowledged by giving book as token of love and gratitude by Prof. K. Y. Rajpure, the chairman of the program.
Dr. Gunjkar's discourse encompassed various indigenous technologies in India, including Ayurveda, Yogasadhana, and modern advancements like the Radhanagari Dam, Nisargaruna Project, Chandrayaan, and the Vikrant Ship, among others. He elaborated on the progress of his research journey, highlighting the Department of Physics' pivotal role in advancing materials science research.
Delving into the realm of nanotechnology, Dr. Gunjkar elucidated on the methods of preparing 2D nanosheets, their challenges, and the myriad opportunities they present. He provided comprehensive insights into nanosheets and their diverse applications, emphasizing how altering their structure can drastically modify their properties, rendering them invaluable across various fields. Demonstrating his expertise, he showcased indigenous patents like gas sensors and IR filters, further underscoring the innovation potential within indigenous technologies.
A vibrant question and answer session ensued, with enthusiastic participation from students, facilitated by Prof. Dr. Rajpure. Reflecting on Dr. Gunjkar's journey, Prof. Dr. Rajpure encouraged students to seize the opportunities available in higher education.
