Physics Department Student Achieves India Rank 3 in NTA and CSIR NET (JRF) Examination (13 November, 2024)
Department of Physics Continues to Deliver Quality Education: Prof. (Dr.) R. G. Sonkawade
KOLHAPUR: The results for the National Level Assistant Professor Eligibility Test (NET), conducted by NTA and CSIR on July 25, 2024, were announced on October 14, 2024. Over 25,000 students participated in the exam. Among them, Navnath Kashinath Chavan, an alumnus of the Department of Physics at Shivaji University, has secured an outstanding achievement by securing the third position in India in the NET exam.
Navnath completed his Master's in Physics in 2009 and is currently pursuing research under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) R. K. Nimat at Shivaji University’s Department of Physics. He extended his gratitude to his professors, family, and peers for their constant support and encouragement throughout his preparation for the NET exam.
Prof. (Dr.) R. G. Sonkawade, Head of the Department of Physics, congratulated Navnath Chavan on his remarkable success, emphasizing that the department consistently strives for excellence in both teaching and research. The Department of Physics, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities at the Physics Instrument Facility Centre (PIFC), remains a preferred choice for students pursuing research.
The department has consistently produced outstanding graduates, many of whom are contributing significantly to research worldwide. Several national and international research projects, along with conferences, have been organized by the department. The faculty members are renowned for their international research contributions.
Prof. Sonkawade further expressed gratitude towards Shivaji University’s Vice Chancellor Hon. D. T. Shirke, Pro-Vice Chancellor Hon. P. S. Patil, and Registrar Hon. V. N. Shinde for their continuous support and encouragement in furthering the department’s achievements.
