On the auspicious occasion of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, the Department of Physics, Shivaji University, Kolhapur, actively participated in the ‘Special Cleanliness Campaign’ organized across the University campus. Inspired by the guiding principle of “Cleanliness is Service” (Swachhata Hi Seva), a comprehensive cleanliness drive was conducted in and around the Department of Physics on 1 October 2026.
The
cleanliness drive witnessed enthusiastic and collective participation from the
faculty members, non-teaching staff, and students of the Department of Physics.
As part of the initiative, extensive cleaning and maintenance activities were
undertaken within the departmental premises. The laboratories, classrooms,
faculty cabins, administrative offices, corridors, common areas, and other
departmental spaces were thoroughly cleaned and organized.
The
campaign was further extended beyond the internal premises to the immediate
surroundings and nearby areas of the Department of Physics. Faculty members,
staff, and students collectively participated in sweeping and cleaning the
pathways, open spaces, corners, and surrounding campus areas adjoining the
department. Garbage, plastic waste, dry waste, leaves, and other unwanted
materials were systematically collected and removed. Special attention was
given to maintaining cleanliness around the entrance and the frequently used
pathways and open areas near the department so as to create a cleaner and more
pleasant environment for students, staff, and visitors.
The
collective efforts of the department resulted in a cleaner, hygienic,
organized, and aesthetically pleasant departmental environment, both within the
building and in its immediate surroundings. The cleanliness campaign was
successfully completed with active cooperation from all members of the
Department of Physics
